A few day ago on August 24 at about 9:00 in the morning it was reported that the students in Mr.Hoering’s 2nd period class at Blackhawk Middle school got some disappointing news. They quickly learned that beginning Tuesday September the 5th their school school would enforce a new dress code policy. They would have to wear uniforms to school from then on.

“Everyone was got really quite and them really angry in a very short amount of time” reported one of the 8th grade students in that class. According to the teacher, Mr.Hoering, things became very chaotic as students began shouting, sitting, in shock, and even crying. It was even reported that evidently one student passed out. Things also went as far as the the students yelling at the teachers! When asked about that the students replied with “They didn’t care about how we were feeling at all. All they cared about was weather or not the information letter should be a colored copy, so yes we were mad.”

We asked one student in that class to describe how she felt and why she was mad. When asked she replied with “Well to start with this is our 8th grade year and it really sucks that now we have to wear uniforms instead of getting to express who we are. Also it is 2 weeks into the school year ,and a lot of people have already gone back to school shopping. So now they have to go out and by all new clothes because they won’t be aloud to wear the ones they already bought.”

After thing began to calm down students were asked to take out a notebook and write about the news they just received. They were instructed to write about how they were feeling and many did not hold back in their writing. Sources also said that many decided their emotions and thoughts were to jumbled and powerful to write at all. Later in the class the teacher shared that he had an announcement to make. The students were less than thrilled. “Great I thought are going to give us even more bad news” a students reported. Then the whole broke out into a loud uproar AGAIN only this time they were all happy because they had just learned that the whole thing was a prank! When asked why he did it Mr.Hoeing replied with”I wanted them to know what it fells like to write with true emotion and power, and now they know!”
